Cop shootout in Long Island City

A robbery suspect opened fire on Long Island City cops and ended up with a bullet in his leg as officers fired back, police said.

Terrance Carew, 30, allegedly robbed a 53-year-old man and then fired his gun at several people on 12th Street around 8:50 p.m. Friday.

When housing cops responded in a marked car, Carew allegedly ran off, then turned and fired at them. His shots missed. Officers fired back, hitting him in the thigh, cops said.

Carew was listed in stable condition last night at Elmhurst Hospital.
