Gov. Christie’s NJ relief fund

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and his wife, Mary Pat, yesterday announced a relief fund for Garden State residents hurt by superstorm Sandy.

“New Jerseyans are not only tough and resilient — as we’ve already seen powerfully through the storm and initial recovery period — they are caring, generous and kind,” the governor said. “Above all, we are a community and we take care of each other.”

The Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund will soon launch a Web site to accept donations for families struggling to rebuild.

The Hess Corp. gave $2.5 million to the fund.
