A heartless career criminal tried to pass himself off as a Red Cross worker on Staten Island as he looked for homes to burglarize in the storm-ravaged borough, cops said.
Alfonso Manzo, 49, was wearing a Red Cross jacket as cops said they spotted him casing unoccupied homes in Midland Beach.
The cops, who were assigned to storm-ravaged areas, approached Manzo, who didn’t have Red Cross identification, cops said.
Manzo was charged with burglary, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal impersonation of a public servant.
He has 28 prior arrests, cops said.
