Court smacks ‘junk’ mail carrier

This postal worker’s being special-delivered to jail.

An upstate postmaster who stole more than $51,000 in money orders to feed a heroin addiction has been sentenced to nine months and must pay back the money.

The US Attorney’s office says Andrea Lynch, 30, of Clayton, was sentenced Friday. She had pleaded guilty in June to a felony count of misappropriating postal funds.

Lynch admitted embezzling 231 money orders while she was postmaster in Theresa, LaFargeville and Fishers Landing, all in Jefferson County.
