B’klyn Dems: Boot ‘betrayer’ Felder

Brooklyn Democratic leaders want to toss turncoat state Sen.-elect Simcha Felder (pictured) from the party.

“We’re looking at the rules — the Kings County organization rules and the state Democratic organization — to see if there is a provision for expulsion,” said spokesman George Arzt. “If not, we would explore proposing such a provision.”

Brooklyn Democratic Chairman Frank Seddio called Felder’s decision to side with Republicans in a Senate leadership fight a “betrayal” and labeled his campaign “a lie.”

But Seddio also said “it’s not too late for Felder (right) to reconsider” and said he’d welcome a conversation with him.

Senate Minority Leader John Sampson (D-Brooklyn) told NY1 he was “disappointed” with Felder’s decision, but added, “People can always change their minds.”

With Democrats having won as many as 33 seats last week in the 63-seat Senate, the Independent Democratic Conference, which includes three other disaffected Democrats, could determine which party runs the house.

A spokesman for the independent conference leader, Sen. Jeff Klein of The Bronx, declined to comment.
