Some say conservatives should move to the left if we want to win elections (“Don’t Write Off the Right Quite Yet,” Jonah Goldberg, PostOpinion, Nov. 14).
That is not an option. I would rather see the GOP lose every election than become “light Democrats.” Some of us feel that we will have to answer to a higher power, so we will not embrace things like abortion or socialized medicine.
The liberal media and our educational system have done a great job making half of our citizens believe that America is the problem. It will take a crash to make them understand.

After centuries of tyranny in Europe and England’s domination of the original 13 colonies, a handful of brilliant minds set out to create a nation of people who would no longer bend to corruption, taxation without representation and central governance.
The Constitution was written to ensure these atrocities would not reign in this new nation, and definitively set a standard of duty, ethics and honor. Anyone who thinks conservatism is dead needs to read the Constitution’s provisions on limited federal powers.T. Miraldi

A Republican president may be a thing of the past. Our leader has fundamentally transformed America, as promised, and has accomplished the alienation, exploitation and division required for true reform.
He will continue to reduce the collective incentive to work and create wealth. The new doctrine requires more government dependence.
The gradual retreat from capitalism has been greatly advanced without much notice.
In the coming months, conservatives will be reviled for attempts at fiscal sanity. Future generations will be irreparably harmed, but mostly the middle class. There is no Abraham Lincoln or Ronald Reagan who can fix our problems.
Generations have fought against oppressive government and died for freedoms unknown before our nation’s creation. Now, we vote to end it. Ken Schopp
