Faux-get about it, feds say

The feds bagged a multimillion-dollar shipment of imported, knockoff accessories set to sail though a New Jersey port, authorities announced yesterday.

US Customs and Border Protection agents uncovered the contraband in Elizabeth on Oct. 11.

Agents picked up 537 cartons of handbags, belts and wallets that had phony trademarked labels of Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Michael Kors, according to feds.

The imported merchandise was listed as “plastics” on shipping documents. If the goods were real, their retail value would have been about $20 million, officials said.

Authorities declined to make a knockoff street-value estimate.

The feds said they waited a month between the seizure and yesterday’s announcement so agents could continue to investigate without jeopardizing the probe.
