Son held in arson, stab slay

A 55-year-old mother was found stabbed to death and her 32-year-old son was in critical condition after their East Harlem apartment was set on fire — and cops were questioning the woman’s older son, sources said.

Witnesses told investigators that the eldest son, believed to be in his 30s, was in the Park Avenue apartment when it caught fire at around 4 p.m. yesterday.

Before cops arrived, the son walked past a crowd of bewildered onlookers and disappeared, the sources added.

Neighbor Anthony Watts, 16, said he was playing basketball nearby when he saw a shoe fly out of a 10th-floor window and heard a man scream, “Help me! Help me, please! My brother’s trying to kill me!”

Watts said he ran into the building and found the woman on the floor of the smoke-filled apartment.

Watts said the eldest son “was wearing a light-blue hoodie and black running shoes. There was blood all over his sneakers and his face. She had blood on her dress. ”

Watts said when he asked the blood-soaked son what happened, he responded: “You’ll understand. You’ll know what I’m talking about,” before calmly strolling away.

Another neighbor said she heard the eldest son say: “Everybody’s free now.”

After police put out a description of the suspect, two cops busted him at 125th Street and Lexington Avenue.
