The NYPD cop who’s threatening to sue a millionaire for running over his foot with a Ferrari was busted for alleged drunk driving early yesterday.
Police sources say Officer Felix Recio was driving under the influence in Forest Hills, Queens, at about 4a.m. when he crashed his Honda.
Cops found Recio in his vehicle on 69th Road, where he refused a Breathalyzer test and allegedly told a responding officer, “I was driving after drinking a beer.”
No one was injured in the crash, police sources say.
Recio was stoic in Queens criminal court yesterday afternoon as he was charged with drunk driving and then released. His license has been suspended.
In August, the cop threatened to file a $10 million suit against Internet millionaire Julien Chabbott, claiming he ran over Recio’s foot with a Ferrari outside the Mercer Hotel. No suit has been filed to date.
Recio claims Chabbott targeted him because he gave him a parking ticket in SoHo.
The officer’s lawyer, Sal Strazzullo, didn’t think the booze-fueled crash would affect the suit.
“He was probably going under a lot of stress,” Strazzullo said. “We still live in America. You’re innocent until proven guilty.”
Chabbott’s lawyer Benjamin Brafman commented on the crash, saying, “I’m not at all surprised by the officer’s arrest, as his videotaped behavior in connection with the Chabbott incident shows him to be completely out of control and perhaps even dangerous.”
