On the day after Election Day, some folks in the Pelican State stormed the White House Web site to demand that their state be allowed to secede.

A petition posted on whitehouse.gov asks the president to let Louisiana the “create its own new government.” It had collected 3,809 signatures by yesterday afternoon.

Missouri cops are making special deliveries to protect the neighborhood pizza guy.

St. Louis County police are posing as pizza deliverymen after two were found dead in a car Monday night, KMOX Radio said.

The cheesy stings for Imo’s Pizza, where both victims worked, were to hit high-crime areas this weekend and eventually roll out to include other pizzerias.

“If someone has a sinister motive in mind for a deliveryman, it may be a police officer, and that person probably made a bad choice,” said Police Chief Tim Fitch.

The newest carnivore in the ocean looks just like . . . a candelabra?

Scientists have discovered a meat-eating harp sponge, a long-limbed underwater organism, deep off California’s Monterey Bay.

It ensnares crustaceans with its Velcro-like hooks, covers them in thin membranes, then slowly digests them.

“We were just amazed. No one had ever seen this animal . . . before,” biologist Lonny Lundsten told ouramazingplanet.com.

A Denver mail carrier says he did notice the rotting corpse on the porch steps while making a delivery but thought it was just another Halloween display.

The Postal Service confirmed that he stumbled upon the body of Dale Porch, 46, who had collapsed and died Nov. 2 after getting home from his night job.

“When the carrier learned [the truth], he was shocked and extremely upset,” officials said in a statement.
