Apple pact

Apple and HTC have settled all global lawsuits and signed a 10-year licensing agreement, ending a dispute that threatened their shipments of mobile devices. Apple had accused HTC of copying its iPhone’s pinch-to-zoom feature.

Hertz move

Hertz has tentatively agreed to shed about 12 locations at US airports in a concession aimed at winning federal regulatory approval for its proposed acquisition of rival Dollar Thrifty, according to people familiar with the talks, WSJ. com reported.

Best names

Best Buy has tapped Sharon McCollam, the former Williams-Sonoma chief financial officer who retired abruptly in March, as its new CEO, the Wall Street Journal reported. She will replace longtime Best Buy CFO Jim Muehlbauer, who is leaving at the end of the fiscal year.
