GOLF: Beljan wins Disney tourney

Two days after he was wheeled out of the scoring room on a stretcher after suffering a panic attack, Charlie Beljan won the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic yesterday at Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The 28-year-old rookie shot a 3-under 69 to finish off a two-shot win over Robert Garrigus and Matt Every.

Matteo Manassero holed a 12-foot eagle putt to beat Louis Oosthuizen on the third playoff hole to win the Singapore Open. Rory McIlroy finished in third place at 10 under, guaranteeing he will win the European money title this year.

Cristie Kerr won the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Guadalajara, Mexico, for her first LPGA Tour victory in more than two years, and Stacy Lewis tied for fourth to wrap up the player of the year award.

NBA: Cousins suspended two games

Kings center DeMarcus Cousins was suspended for two games without pay for confronting San Antonio announcer Sean Elliott in a hostile manner. The exchange followed the Spurs’ 97-86 victory in Sacramento on Friday night. The volatile Cousins will lose about $70,500 of his $3.9 million salary.

NASCAR: Keselowski leads in race for Cup

Brad Keselowski heads into next week’s season Sprint Cup finale with a 20-point lead over five-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson, who crashed and finished 32nd in yesterday’s race in Avondale, Ariz. Kevin Harvick won the race to snap a 44-race losing streak in a crash-marred finish.

Antron Brown became the first African-American driver to win a major auto-racing title, ending yesterday as the NHRA Top Fuel champion in Pomona, Calif.

COLLEGE: Washington State probes coach

Washington State president Elson Floyd called for a review of claims of abusive behavior by football coach Mike Leach and his staff toward players by wide receiver Marquess Wilson. The decision by Floyd comes one day after Wilson quit the team. Wilson says he left the program because of the actions of Leach and his staff.
