Jets report card

OFFENSE

All of that bye-week preparation for this? Tony Sparano’s crew stunk up the joint, led by quarterback Mark Sanchez (9-of-22, 124 yards, one interception, 40.7 QB rating). Sanchez is doing nothing to douse the flames of the team’s quarterback controversy. He threw his fourth red-zone interception and later fumbled. The Jets used Tim Tebow in some more creative ways, but it did not result in much. Tight end Dustin Keller had a horrendous game with a drop and a false-start penalty on the 1-yard line. F

DEFENSE

You can’t blame these guys for feeling frustrated. The unit played terrific for three quarters, keeping the team in the game while the offense floundered. They looked spent in the fourth quarter and allowed two Seahawks touchdowns. The front line sacked Russell Wilson four times. Defensive end Mike DeVito was in the backfield all day and defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson scored the Jets’ only points. He also forced a fumble. B+

SPECIAL TEAMS

It was not as bad as two weeks ago against the Dolphins, but this unit had issues again. The biggest was punt returner Jeremy Kerley muffing a punt that led to points for the Seahawks. Kicker Nick Folk also booted a kickoff out of bounds for a penalty. C-

COACHING

This one was brutal.

The coaches had two weeks to prepare and still looked completely overmatched by a good, but not great, Seahawks team. Head coach Rex Ryan continues to talk about how great the Jets are in practice, but it’s not translating to game day. Offensive coordinator Tony Sparano tried some different things, but nothing is working. Defensive coordinator Mike Pettine had a nice plan against rookie QB Russell Wilson, and they got some good pressure on him. D
