Elderly woman dies in Prospect Heights fire

A 91-year-old woman was killed this morning when fire swept through her Brooklyn apartment building, authorities said.

The two-alarm blaze broke out around 4:35 a.m. in a deli on the first floor of the building on Franklin Avenue and Pacific Street in Prospect Heights, said a Fire Department spokesman. Firefighters battled the blaze for an hour and a half and got the flames under control around 6:10 a.m., fire officials said.

They then found Olga Bates, 91, unconscious on the second floor, cops said.

The victim was rushed to Interfaith Hospital, where she died, police said.

Four others suffered minor injuries, including two firefighters, the FDNY said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, officials said.
