Jets blitz

HERO

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, who completed 12 of 19 passes for 188 yards with two TDs and no INTs, was the best quarterback on the field despite the fact he’s a rookie. He was pressured early in the game by the Jets’ pass rush and kept his poise.

UNSUNG HERO

The Jets defense kept them in the game despite the lopsided final score. Mike DeVito had a forced fumble. Muhammed Wilkerson had a sack, forced fumble and a fumble recovery for a TD. The defense kept Seattle RB Marshawn Lynch in check for most of the game until it was broken in the fourth quarter. Lynch’s 124 rushing yards were deceptive.

ZERO

Mark Sanchez, who turned the ball over twice and completed just 9 of 22 passes for 124 yards, with an INT and a lost fumble, never looked like he had what it took to lead the team to a win on offense. Sure, Sanchez had a couple balls dropped, but both of his turnovers were inexcusable. The first was a pick at the Seattle end zone, taking at least three points off the board. The second came when he tried to do too much on a Seattle blitz and lost the ball.

KEY STAT

23:49 The amount of time the Jets had the ball compared to the 36-plus minutes the Seahawks held on to the ball.
