Simcha Felder’s fence-hopping

The Issue: Democrat Simcha Felder’s announcing that he’ll caucus with New York’s Republican Party.

***

Simcha Felder lied to every one of his constituents (“The Devil Went Up to Albany,” Editorial, Nov. 15).

During Felder’s campaign, he knocked on the doors of people of all nationalities and races living around Avenue J and Ocean Avenue. He said he would help the Democratic machine move the American public forward under President Obama, only to later switch sides to represent only part of the community.

It is an outrage for the Republicans to have control of the Senate, because Democrats voted for those we believe will represent us, only to have them betray us.

Felder knew he was going to do this and betrayed those who voted for him. Republicans and Democrats alike should be outraged and have this man ousted and made to repay political donations.

Felder was elected by a majority, because of his stated intention to represent our community irrespective of party.

He placed the people above the party, as he has done throughout his political career. His objective was not personal advancement but, rather, his constituency. The editorial omitted that part of his position.

Such a rare representative should be commended, not condemned.
