Bench lifts Rutgers to win at Princeton

Eli Carter came off the bench for 22 points to lead Rutgers past Princeton 58-52 last night for the Scarlet Knights’ (2-1), 16th win in 60 games on the Tigers’ (1-2) home court.

Connecticut 77, Wake Forest 71

In St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Shabazz Napier scored all 16 of his points in the final 10 minutes and Ryan Boatright also scored 16 to lead No. 23 Connecticut (3-0) over Wake Forest (1-1) in the Paradise Jam.

St. Peter’s 68, Cornell 64

In Ithaca, N.Y., Blaise French scored a career-high 22 points to lead Saint Peter’s over Cornell. The Peacocks, who went 5-26 last season, are 3-0 for the first time since the 1990-91 season.

St. Joseph’s 79, Notre Dame 70 (OT)

In Brooklyn, Ronald Roberts had 21 points and 16 rebounds to lead Saint Joseph’s (2-0) to an overtime victory over No. 20 Notre Dame (2-1) in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic semifinals at Barclays Center.

Jack Cooley had 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Fighting Irish (2-1), who didn’t score in the final 4 minutes of regulation and first 4 of OT.

The Hawks will play Florida State, 88-70 winners over BYU, in tonight’s championship game.

Quinnipiac 98, Iona 92 (OT)

In St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Ike Azotam scored 21 points and Quinnipiac (2-1) survived a dominant performance by Lamont “Momo” Jones, who matched a career high with 40 points, to beat Iona (1-1) in the Paradise Jam.

Maryland 91, LIU-Brooklyn 74

In College Park, Md., Alex Len had 18 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots, and Maryland (2-1) beat LIU-Brooklyn (0-3), which got 22 points from Julian Boyd.

Hofstra 66, South Dakota St. 63

In Hempstead, N.Y., Shaquille Stokes hit a 3-pointer with nine seconds left to give Hofstra (1-2) the victory over South Dakota State (1-2) in the 2K Sports Classic.
