GOLF: McIlroy misses cut, Campbell leads
Michael Campbell led a host of 40-somethings atop the leaderboard at a Hong Kong Open that lost defending champion Rory McIlroy when he failed to make the cut yesterday.
The 43-year-old Campbell shot a 6-under 64 that gave him a one-stroke lead at 9 under. McIlroy shot a 72 to finish at 5 over after two rounds.
In Pebble Beach, Calif., Russ Cochran shot a 7-under 65 for a share of the Pebble Beach Invitational lead with fellow Champions Tour player Kirk Triplett.
Triplett had a 69 to match Cochran at 9-under 135 in the tournament that features 81 players from the PGA, LPGA, Champions and Web.com tours.
In Naples, Fla., Ai Miyazato of Japan shot an 8-under 64 and a one-shot lead in the season-ending LPGA Titleholders Open.
ETC.: Fordham’s Gaston to miss a month
Fordham forward Chris Gaston underwent arthroscopic knee surgery yesterday and is expected to miss a month of the season. The senior led the Rams in scoring and rebounding each of his previous three seasons.

Tigers pitcher Rick Porcello has surrendered his No. 48 to new teammate Torii Hunter in exchange for the outfielder making a donation to the Hurricane Sandy relief effort in Porcello’s home state of New Jersey.
In Honolulu, Stanford snapped defending national champion Baylor’s 42-game winning streak, winning 71-69 when player of the year Brittney Griner missed a short turnaround at the buzzer. The Lady Bears went 40-0 last year.
