The iconic Twinkies, a snack staple since the 1930s, hit the online auction block Friday, after Hostess Brands – which also produces Wonder Bread, Ho-Ho’s and Ding Dongs – pushed to shut down its operation in the wake of a worker strike.
Sure, people will miss the cream-filled sponge cake.
But $10 million?! That’s how much one eBay seller from Florida wants for one box of Twinkies, delivered in a van “that displays your company logo to the address of your choosing.”
So far, the opportunist has rejected 15 offers for the 10-count box of Twinkies.
A Texas-based seller is offering four boxes of Twinkies. Starting bid: $3 million.
“Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too?” the seller wrote in the auction listing.
The Twinkie mother lode – featuring 500 of the treats collected from Arkansas stores – is listed with a starting bid of $5,000.
One jokester is offering a two-pack of the treats for a cool million.
“Your filthy rich husband cheated on you time and time again? Buy him the perfect get even gift,” the seller wrote.
If the Twinkies don’t attract a buyer, the seller expects to share the snacks with their dog, Rocky.
“Hey, he likes them too!” the Illinois-based seller wrote.
