“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2” sucked the competition dry this weekend, with an estimated $71.2 million haul for its Friday opening and a projected $135 million through today.
That includes 30.4 million for Thursday night previews and midnight screenings.
The final film in the vampire-romance franchise is in line to earn the sixth-highest-grossing opening day ever yet lags behind “Breaking Dawn — Part 1” ($71.6 million) and “New Moon” ($72.7 million).
