A former schoolteacher claims the city branded him with a scarlet letter P — for pedophile — and now he’s peeved.
Derrick Meyler says he’s “a veteran, educator and law-abiding citizen — not a child molester” and has decided to draw attention to himself by starting an online petition to defend his good name.
“Apologize for falsely accusing me as a pedophile and molester,” the ex-social studies teacher’s petition states in all capital letters.
The petition claims Meyler, 44, was “falsely accused” of being a pedophile while working at Andries Hudde Intermediate School in Brooklyn, where he taught from 2001 to 2003.
He claims he was, “threatened whenever I spoke against the atrocities committed against me.”
Meyler and the UFT did not return requests for comment.
