Million-dollar sellers take the cakes

How sweet it is!

Snack company Hostess’ demise is shaping up to be a gold rush for online sellers, who are hawking boxes of its doomed treats for as high as $21 million.

Soon-to-be-gone Twinkies, Zingers, Sno Balls, Ding Dongs, Ho Hos, Donettes and other sweets are being offered by thousands of eBayers eager to make some dough of their own.

Twinkies are hottest of the bunch — with close to 17,000 results popping up on the Web site.

“I thought, ‘I’ll sell it for a profit,’ ” said Floridian Rich Corrao, who posted a listing on Friday for a $3.99, 10-cake box of Twinkies for $10 million.

To sweeten the deal, Corrao, 45, said he plans to donate 10 percent of the sale to charity.

As of late yesterday, he had 94 offers — all declined because he said they were too low.

Some Twinkie entrepreneurs have used the shortage as an excuse to be charitable — to themselves.

One eBayer listed a collection of Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Suzy Qs, cupcakes and others for $283,330.38 — to pay off his mortgage. “This will pay off my mortgage so I can finally go back to school,” the seller wrote.

The priciest snack so far is an 11.25-ounce box of four Donettes for $21 million.
