Kids badly hurt in Bronx blaze

Three children were critically injured yesterday in a fire that tore through the laundry-room of a Bronx apartment building, authorities said.

The fire began at 7:35 p.m. at 207 Longstreet Ave. in Throggs Neck, and was out by 8 p.m. It left 10 people injured, the FDNY said.

Two adults with serious injuries and the three critically hurt kids were rushed to area hospitals.

“I had just finished cooking dinner and I heard neighbors screaming,” said Adrianna Negron, who lives on the first floor. “I rushed out to the balcony and saw my neighbors from upstairs outside . . . They said there was a fire in the building.”

Firetrucks arrived as a family that lives across from the laundry room fled with their two girls in tow, Negron said.
