Ed Fountaine’s Stakes Spot Plays

Garland Of Roses

Aqueduct, sixth race. Purse: $75,000. 6 furlongs, fillies and mares. Post: 2:50 p.m.

LOWDOWN:
Delightful Quality looked like the second coming of Ta Wee when she broke her maiden by 6 3/4 lengths in 1:09 4/5 last June at Belmont Park. Since then, the Darley Stable homebred daughter of Elusive Quality has run second twice, to champion My Miss Aurelia at Saratoga and to runaway speedball Ullapool at Belmont. She comes into this spot fresh and gets in light.

TIARA

Gulfstream Park, eighth race. Purse: $125,000. 1 1/16 miles, turf, fillies and mares. Post 4:05 p.m.

LOWDOWN:
Silver Screamer, a Grade 3 winner on the lawn, looks to have a significant class advantage in this field. The daughter of turf champ Cozzene drew the tough far outside post 14, but she has good early foot and a top speed rider on turf in Jose Espinoza, so she should be able to get good position early.

NATIVE DIVER

Hollywood Park, fourth race. Grade 3. Purse: $250,000. 1¹/‚ˆ miles, Cushion track, 3-year-olds and up. Post: 5:02 p.m.

LOWDOWN:
Game On Dude lost all chance as the favorite in the Breeders’ Cup Classic when he was squeezed at the start and never got a chance to run his best race, which is on or close to the pace. At a very short price breaking from post 1, he should make amends over the same track where the “Dude” won the Californian and Hollywood Gold Cup last summer.
