Follow-up made easy

Are you frustrated by the number of steps you often have to take when you want to follow up on a call or text message from one of your colleagues or clients?

With the free Android app CallFlakes, you can easily take action by tapping on an icon when you’re done talking or texting.

Once you install the app, after you finish a phone call or get a text message, a screen appears with icons for several follow-up actions like texting or calling back, e-mailing, setting up a meeting or reminder, searching the Web or sharing something from the call on Twitter or Facebook.

If you choose to send a follow-up e-mail to the person you were just communicating with, and that person is in your address book, the address will automatically show up in the e-mail you can compose after tapping on the “Email” icon. Otherwise, you just have to type the address into your e-mail. CallFlakes works with whichever mail client you have on your phone, and if you have more than one setup, it will ask you which client you want to use.

The meeting and reminder follow-up actions only work with Android phones’ built-in calendar.

CallFlakes lets you easily add someone to your contacts by clicking on another icon that appears after a new number calls or texts you.

The app can sync your address book with your list of Facebook friends, for an extended form of caller ID.

There’s no iPhone version of the app because CallFlakes won’t work with Apple’s current operating system, according to Zach Sivan, the managing director of developer Callsome Solutions.
