Even members of Mayor Bloomberg’s inner circle are jumping on the Joseph Lhota for mayor bandwagon.
MTA Board member Mark Lebow – who is married to Bloomberg’s top advisor Patti Harris – introduced the agency chairman today as “mayor elect.”
Lhota – a former city budget director who was appointed MTA chairman last year – is being touted as a possible GOP mayoral candiate.
Lebow’s impromptu intro at the MTA transit committee meeting – which included a presentation on the storm – prompted laughter from the board.
Despite the drumbeat, Lhota has not indicated whether he’d like to run for mayor.
