Ask nearly anyone at Brooklyn’s EBC HS for Public Service how it went from an “F” grade to a “B” this year and you hear the same answer: Principal Shawn Brown.

“He was the main reason because he really put it on us,” said Jonathan Rivera (pictured), a senior at the Bushwick school, which, less than two years after Brown took over, is one of just two city high schools to vault three grades.

“Everyone has had to be accountable. [Brown] enforces the dress code . . . All the kids were really loose with the other principal, but he doesn’t let us slide.”

Fellow senior Luis Alvarado said Brown “connects with our age group. He’s younger and from the neighborhood. We can relate to him.”

“Someone said our other principal was cancer,” Alvarado said. “Well, this principal is our cure. He’s our savior.”

Tulio Lopez, another senior, said Brown “motivates us. He makes sure everyone goes to class, everyone is on point.”

“The principal is always walking around making sure the students are doing the right thing, not getting into trouble,” he said. “He cares about us.”
