Suh avoids suspension for Schaub groin shot

The NFL has decided not to suspend Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh for his actions against Texans quarterback Matt Schaub.

League spokesman Greg Aiello announced the decision yesterday via Twitter, adding the “incident” will be reviewed for a potential fine.

Schaub responded yesterday by saying he would not want the notorious Suh as a teammate.

“No, you don’t want a player like that,” Schaub said on 610 AM in Houston. “The stuff that he stands for and the type of player he is, that’s not Houston Texan worthy. That’s not what we’re about.”

Suh’s left cleat connected with Schaub’s groin area after he threw a pass in the first quarter of last Thursday’s game. The defensive tackle was on his chest after being taken down by an offensive lineman and extended his left foot to hit Schaub below the belt.

TITANS: Coach Mike Munchak has fired offensive coordinator Chris Palmer and replaced the veteran with quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains.

The Titans are 24th averaging 327.7 yards per game and only 20th in passing with an average of 220.8 yards per game.

SEAHAWKS: Seattle coach Pete Carroll says he expects starting cornerbacks Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner to be able to play on Sunday at Chicago, despite the possibility they could be facing four-game suspensions for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

49ERS: Wide receiver and return man Kyle Williams says he will miss the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his left knee sustained in Sunday’s win at New Orleans.

BUCCANEERS: Tampa Bay’s porous secondary took another hit when cornerback Eric Wright was suspended by the NFL for four games for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Wright is the second Tampa Bay starter disciplined for using Adderall. Cornerback Aqib Talib was suspended Oct. 13 for four games and subsequently traded to the Patriots while serving the ban.
