Syracuse back in Pinstripe Bowl vs. West Virginia

Syracuse just can’t get enough of Yankee Stadium.

For the second time in three years, the co-Big East champions will be playing in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, this time against former Big East rival West Virginia on Dec. 19.

The Orange defeated Kansas State in the inaugural Pinstripe Bowl, 36-34, in 2010.

“We are thrilled to be invited to the New Era Pinstripe Bowl for the second time in three years,” coach Doug Marrone said in a statement. “It means a great deal to us to play a bowl game in Yankee Stadium, where many of our alumni and fans will have the opportunity to share it with us.”

* Rutgers, after blowing a chance for a BCS bid in Thursday’s 20-17 loss to Louisville, is headed to the Russell Athletic Bowl on Dec. 28, where it will meet Virginia Tech.
