Chris on O’s red carpet

WASHINGTON — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie came to Washington yesterday to drum up disaster aid for his state, and was given VIP treatment by President Obama, who got a boost from Christie during the campaign.

Obama dropped in on a meeting Christie had with the president’s top staff, press secretary Jay Carney confirmed after the governor left for Capitol Hill.

Last week, when Gov. Cuomo was in town to pitch his own appeal for aid, he didn’t get to meet with Obama.

The show of respect from Democrat Obama comes after Republican Christie lauded the president for his response to Hurricane Sandy during the final days of the campaign as the two surveyed storm damage together.
