Brooklyn residents bash new RAMBO neighborhood

RAMBO has officially invaded Brooklyn.

The newest neighborhood to earn a questionable name — RAMBO stands for “Right Around the Manhattan Bridge Overpass” — has popped up on Google Maps.

The service carved out a tiny, four-block radius for the neighborhood, wedged between DUMBO and Downtown Brooklyn.

Residents say the name should be shot down.

“This is ridiculous,” said RAMBO resident David Hahn.

“If brokers were pushing the name to confuse it with DUMBO to drive up property values, they’re screwing up because RAMBO sounds like a neighborhood with a lot of violence.”

The name RAMBO first appeared as the winning submission of a 2005 contest by Curbed.com.

Neighborhood designations on Google Maps are created by amateur mapmakers who sift through thousands of proposals every month.

One of those amateurs is Matthew Hyland, a 31-year-old Brooklyn chef.

Hyland told the Post he “repeatedly rejected” the name RAMBO — but another person approved it.

“I really hate the name,” Hyland said.

The city only classifies boroughs and community board districts.

Residents in nearby DUMBO — which stands for “Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass” — also panned it.

“DUMBO should just annex Rambo and move on,” said local activist Gus Sheha.
