British lion in Wintour?

The Issue: Vogue Editor Anna Wintour’s potential appointment as US ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Vogue Editor Anna Wintour will be Lady Ambassador to The Court of Saint James? I think not (“The Devil You Say,” Editorial, Dec. 4).

Wintour is a former British citizen and now a naturalized US citizen.

It is crucial that there be no doubt where the loyalties of anyone in this sensitive position lie.

Great Britain is one of the United States’ most ardent allies, and the ambassador slot should be filled only with a candidate well-versed in foreign relations.

There are certainly other ways for the Obama administration to express gratitude to one of its most successful fundraisers.

Perhaps she is best suited as the US global fashion ambassador — a position in which she obviously shines.

The country just had an election.

The winner, in spite of all the money spent by the super-rich by way of super PACs, was President Obama.

Mitt Romney’s favorite billionaire, Sheldon Adelson, intends to spend heavily on Republicans again in 2016.

So The Post’s statement, “And money talks, especially in the Obama White House,” about Wintour being a possible choice for the US ambassador to Great Britain seems somewhat ridiculous.
