Giants fire back at Redskins owner

LANDOVER, Md. — Dan Snyder hates the Giants — profanely so — and many of the Giants hate the Redskins owner, too.

Jubilant at a 17-16 victory over Big Blue here last night, Snyder made his disdain for the Giants plain by screaming “I hate those mother[bleepers]!” to a team staffer in front of several reporters as the owner walked through the Redskins’ locker room.

Thanks to Twitter, it didn’t take long for Snyder’s insult to reach the Giants in their own locker room on the other side of FedEx Field. It’s safe to say there’s no love lost between these old NFC East rivals.

“I could give two [bleeps] what Daniel Snyder has to say,” Giants center Chris Snee told The Post. “I’ve heard lots of things about people hating him too. Including people that work for him.”

Tight end Martellus Bennett, who is a first-year Giant but no stranger to the Redskins after spending the previous four years with Dallas, mocked Snyder by saying: “I don’t even know who that is.”

Told it was the Redskins’ owner, Bennett shrugged.

“Everybody has some type of feeling,” he said.

Giants punter Steve Weatherford tried to take the high road, saying the feeling — at least on his part — wasn’t mutual.

“I don’t have any disdain for that team,” Weatherford told The Post. “I think they played a great game. [Quarterback Robert Griffin III] is really classy, and I think for the most part, I think they’re a classy team.”

Snyder’s insult might not have been solely related to the game. He remains angry at Giants co-owner John Mara for leading the charge to have the Redskins forfeit nearly $30 million in salary-cap room last summer stemming from supposed violations of the NFL’s uncapped year in 2010.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan used that as pregame motivation for his team, posting fliers throughout the locker room reminding the players that the Giants had tried to hamper their ability to win.
