NFL: RG3 won’t play today vs. Browns
Kirk Cousins will start for the Redskins today in place of Robert Griffin III (sprained right knee). The team announced last night the fourth-round pick from Michigan State will make his first career start against the Browns.
Griffin wrote on Twitter: “The decision was not my own. But I will be there for my team!!! In every way I possibly can.”
Friends, family, teammates and members of the community filled a St. Louis church to say goodbye to former Cowboys linebacker Jerry Brown Jr.
Brown died when the car he was riding in flipped after hitting a curb. Teammate Josh Brent has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis won’t play today against the Broncos. Lewis (torn triceps) was eligible to come off the injured list, but did not.
GOLF: Popovic maintains Aussie lead
In Coolum, Australia, Daniel Popovic shot a 3-under-par 69 to take a two-stroke lead into the final round of an Australian PGA championship. Popovic had a total of 13-under 203.
Fellow Australian Andrew Brown is in second place.
In South Africa, Charl Schwartzel has a 10-stroke lead after three rounds of the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
In Orlando, Davis Love III and son Dru had a 12-under 60 for a one stroke lead in the Father-Son Challenge event.

Ryan Lochte broke the 100-meter individual medley world record in the semifinals of the short-course world championships in Istanbul, finishing in 50.71 seconds.
The five-time Olympic champion broke the mark set by Slovenia’s Peter Mankoc in 2009. On Friday, the American star broke the world record in the 200 IM.
In Los Angeles, Leo Santa Cruz (23-0-1 13 KOs) defended his IBF bantamweight title with a unanimous decision over Alberto Guevara (16-1) in the first live boxing match on CBS in 15 years.
The Phillies added a setup man and starter, agreeing to a $12 million, two-year contract with reliever Mike Adams and a one-year deal with lefty John Lannan.
