Woman dead in FDR jump

A woman jumped from a pedestrian walkway over the FDR Drive on the Upper East Side last night and landed on a car traveling northbound, police said.

The 56-year-old jumped at 8:50 p.m. from a bridge that connects East 81st Street and the East River Esplanade.

The woman landed on the windshield of a silver Honda Accord, killing her instantly, according to authorities.

The stunned driver continued to the 96th Street exit before stopping.

The incident brought traffic to a standstill for hours on the northbound side of the highway as police investigated the incident.

Police said criminality is not suspected.
