Fainting Hillary hits head

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton suffered a concussion after fainting and hitting her head in a fall, the State Department said yesterday.

Clinton, 65, who skipped an overseas trip last week because of a severe stomach bug, is recovering at home, and is being monitored by doctors, said a statement by aide Philippe Reines.

The statement said Clinton fainted because she was dehydrated due to the stomach virus. She will continue to work from home in the week ahead, and looks forward to being back in the office “soon.”

Clinton was supposed to testify at congressional hearings on Thursday into the Sept. 11 attack against a US diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans, including the ambassador.

On Monday, Clinton backed out of a trip to North Africa and the Persian Gulf because she was sick.
