Bronx fire forces evacuation of several families in three-story building

A raging Bronx inferno has forced the evacuation of several families in and around a three-story building on Jackson Avenue, authorities said.

The fire, which began around 10:45 a.m., today, has engulfed each floor of the building and is so large that firefighters can’t get inside to battle the flames, sources said.

Residents from the upper floors and workers from a business on the ground floor were able to evacuate themselves and no injuries have been reported so far, sources added.

Neighboring buildings have also been evacuated because of heavy smoke conditions, officials said.
