5 Questions for Rodney Harrison

It will be a football lover’s dream on Sunday with crucial games all over the schedule. With Patriots-49ers in prime time as the headliner, former New England safety and NBC analyst Rodney Harrison breaks down the action with The Post’s Justin Terranova.

Q: Do you still think Colin Kaepernick was the right choice over Alex Smith?

A: [Kaepernick] becomes a matchup problem for a lot of defenses. They become a much more explosive offense with him. I just think he is the ideal guy for Jim Harbaugh’s offense, and he went out and drafted him. This is the guy that he wanted, and even though he’s going to make a lot of young mistakes he’s going to be a terrific player.

Q: Any chance of the winner of the Cowboys-Steelers game making a playoff run?

A: Well, both have put themselves in a position where they have to win out. Neither one can worry about anyone else, just go out there and win football games and you never know what may happen at the end. The last couple of weeks the Cowboys were able to put it together at the end of games, which they hadn’t been able to do. This week will tell a lot.

Q: Were you surprised the Ravens fired offensive coordinator Cam Cameron so late in the season?

A: Whenever you take Ray Rice out the mix that’s something a lot of people question. That’s what people have asked all year. He’s your best player and he should get the ball 20-25 times a game, at least. Joe Flacco is not an elite quarterback, he is a good quarterback. But at the end of the day if you want to go far, you have to put the ball in Rice’s hands and out of Flacco’s.

Q: Any chance the Jets make the playoffs?

A: I don’t think so. They haven’t looked impressive, and the types of teams they have been beating is not impressive.

Q: NFC favorite? AFC favorite?

A: The Giants are the team to beat in the NFC. Green Bay is always in the mix. Seattle is a very viable team that is pretty scary and can creep up on you with the defense and the run game. Russell Wilson’s played well as a rookie. Those are two teams that can make some noise, but it goes back to the Giants. In the AFC, the top three are still the Patriots, Broncos and Texans.

I still think the Texans are a good, complete team, even after they didn’t play well on Monday night.
