‘Showboater’ Liu set to nix new hackmobile

City Comptroller John Liu is announcing today that he is rejecting the contract for the Taxi of Tomorrow, sources told The Post.

But the move is merely showboating, since Mayor Bloomberg isn’t bound by Liu’s assessment and can easily overrule it — which Hizzoner plans to do, the sources said.

Liu has previously criticized the new fleet of yellow cabs — the Nissan NV200 — for not being wheelchair-accessible.

He said he wanted all of the 13,000-plus cabs to be able to accommodate the disabled.

The embattled pol — whose top fund-raiser and ex-treasurer have been indicted by the feds for allged campaign-finance corruption — vowed in May to stall the new cabs.

Two groups of cab owners filed suit last month against the city, hoping to nix the rollout, set to begin next year.

The suit claims the city’s 10-year deal with Nissan is a monopoly. The city Law Department called the suit baseless.

The Nissan NV200 has 10 more inches of legroom than the Ford Crown Victoria, the model most in circulation now.

The Nissan also has no dividing hump in the back seat, making it easier to hold three adults.

The cabs — the first custom model since the Checker — also come with a transparent roof, anti-microbial seats and passenger air bags.
