NYers shelling out big buck$ to see Knicks at MSG

New Yorkers loved Linsanity — but they treasure winning even more!

Reveling in the team’s early-season success, Knicks fans are shelling out big dollars for games at Madison Square Garden.

Tonight’s game against the Houston Rockets, and beloved former Knicks guard Jeremy Lin, is also a hot seller — though not significantly bigger than any other home game, surprisingly.

As of this afternoon, the average asking price for a market-value ticket to this evening’s Rockets game is $327.22, according to secondary ticket aggregator TiqIQ.com.

It’s a sky-high dollar figure, but less than1 percent more than the average asking price of any Knicks’ home game this season, $326.17.

“Before the season, I would have thought the return of Lin would have been an in-demand game,” said Chris Matcovich, director of data and communications for TiqIQ.

“Obviously, by the numbers, it’s in the middle of the pack in terms of average list price.”

The market for Knicks tickets is hotter now than this past February and March, when New York was under the spell of Linsanity.

The average secondary price of Knicks home games, in February and March, was $313.

The Knicks stunned fans over the offseason, allowing Lin to leave as a free agent to Houston.

“In the end, the premise of Linsanity — and what fans loved — was the team winning, as evident by prices then and now,” Matcovich said.

The Knicks enter tonight’s game with an Eastern Conference-best 18-5 mark. Houston limps into MSG at 11-12, tied for the ninth-best record in the Western Conference.
