BUNDLE OF TROUBLE: NYPD cops yesterday transport Dominick Anderson (also bottom right), who was so violent during an alleged attack on his grandma and a responding officer that he had to be carried in restraints.

A deranged Hamilton Heights man, fearing he was under a “voodoo spell,” fatally beat his grandmother yesterday with a fake elephant tusk and then bashed a cop in the head with it as the officer tried to arrest him, officials said.

Dominick Anderson, 27, allegedly bashed his 62-year-old grandmother, Beverly Holmes, during the 8 a.m. attack in a building on St. Nicholas Avenue and West 145th Street, police said.

“Oh, my God! Oh, my God!” cried Anderson’s distraught mother, Mary Anderson, after witnessing the attack.

“My son has psychiatric problems. He thinks my mother is doing the voodoo on him,” she told The Post. “He needs help.”

Mary Anderson said her son had found a doll and photos of himself in Holmes’ closet while doing Christmas cleaning on Monday.

The discovery made him think his grandma was casting “voodoo” spells.

“That’s where she goes and does her chanting every morning,” Anderson said. “Dominick took that doll and threw it away. He said, ‘I can’t believe my own family is trying to do this to me.’ ”

After the attack began, horrified neighbors flagged down cops, who barged in and tried to wrestle Anderson off his grandmother.

Anderson allegedly whacked Officer Michiell Matos in the head with the plastic tusk, which is believed to have come from a statue.

The raging suspect was as hard to take down as a bull elephant, requiring five other officers and a blast of pepper spray, police said.

Holmes was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where she died.

Mato had a CAT-scan at St. Luke’s Hospital for a possible head injury before being released.

The other officers all were treated for bumps and scratches.

Mary Anderson said Dominick has a 5-year-old daughter and is a “father figure” in the tight-knit family.

She said he used to go to therapy and split his time between the Hamilton Heights home and his girlfriend’s place while doing “odd household jobs” for people in the neighborhood.“Dominick is a very good kid,” she said. “What 26-year-old do you know who helps their mother clean up, run errands? Dominick does all that. It’s a family tragedy.”

Dominick had been due to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

He was initially charged with attempted murder and resisting arrest. A police source said upgraded charges are expected against Anderson, pending autopsy results.
