New York City has begun assigning extra safety officers to the city’s elementary schools in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre.
“We have two to three agents in every [public elementary] school. That’s up from one,” a community- affairs officer said at a public meeting at Manhattan’s Ninth Precinct.
The NYPD said, “Security is being assessed on a daily basis as a result of the Connecticut school shooting.”
Meanwhile, a threat was made against students at Westwood HS in New Jersey.
Cops arrested a suspect after searching the home, officials said. They do not believe there is now an active threat against the school.
