Payday is finally here.
Former unpaid “Charlie Rose” interns have won a preliminary $250,000 settlement from the show, papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court reveal.
“If the court approves the settlement, it will be the first class-action settlement on behalf of unpaid interns . . . nationwide,” said plaintiff attorney Rachel Bien.
Lucy Bickerton, 26, of Brooklyn, filed the suit in March, saying she worked 25 hours a week for three months without compensation. Classifying employees as interns violates state law, the suit said.
The settlement allows the PBS show to “deny all of the allegations of wrongdoing.”
