TLC postpones ‘Best Funeral’ in wake of Newtown

TLC has postponed its new special, “Best Funeral Ever,” in the wake of last Friday’s school shootings in Newtown, Conn.

The special, which was supposed to air Thursday, Dec. 27, has now been rescheduled for Sunday, Jan. 6, when it will air at 9 p.m. following a Honey Boo-Boo Halloween special.

In its place, TLC will air an episode of “Toddlers & Tiaras” on Dec. 27.

The one-hour “Best Funeral Ever” revolves around the Golden Gate Funeral Home — which has locations in Dallas and Fort Worth and which offers “themed” funerals.

It’s run by patriarch John Beckwith, who’s featured in the special along with family members and co-workers.

TLC officials decided it was inappropriate to air “Best Funeral Ever” after the carnage at Sandy Hook Elementary School, which claimed the lives of 20 children and six teachers.

The alleged gunman, Adam Lanza, also killed his mother in their home before taking his own life at the school as authorities closed in.
