Less than two months before Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher gunned down his longtime girlfriend and turned the pistol on himself, he sent his other lover text messages that said he “would shoot” the woman.

Belcher, who hailed from West Babylon, LI, told the unidentified gal pal that his long-time girlfriend Kasandra Perkins, 22, had threatened to “take all his money and his child if they split up,” according to police reports obtained by the Kansas City Star.

He said he was going to shoot Perkins “if she didn’t leave him alone.”

Belcher wrote that she “knew exactly how to press his buttons and make him angry.”

On the night of Nov. 30, Belcher went on a bender with the mystery woman and fell asleep in his parked Bentley outside her apartment.

Cops rousted Belcher awake after a neighbor complained — and he moved on to a pal’s couch at around 4:40 a.m.

That neighbor said Belcher chatted about his past and was in “good spirits . . . laughing, joking.”

Two hours later, Belcher awoke and headed home, where he immediately fought with Perkins, the mother of his 3-month-old daughter Zoey.

The Post reported exclusively last week that the altercation was over Zoey’s paternity, with Belcher questioning whether he was the father.

He suddenly pulled a .40-caliber Beretta and shot her multiple times.

Perkins suffered 10 gunshot wounds to the front of her body, including her neck, shoulder and chest, and five others to her back. One of the shots was fired while Perkins was lying on the ground, the Star reported.

Belcher’s mom told cops she saw him kneel down and apologize repeatedly before kissing her, Zoey and the dead woman before fleeing.

He drove to Arrowhead Stadium and pulled his pistol out again, confessing to the coldblooded killing to the Chiefs’ coach and general manager.

“I’m sorry, Scott [Pioli],” he told the Chiefs GM.

Coach Romeo Crennel told Belcher, “You’re taking the easy way out!”

But Belcher refused to listen, and raised his pistol to his right ear and pulled the trigger.

Crennel told cops that Belcher missed a team meeting a few weeks earlier that he blamed on Perkins. He said he had to watch Zoey because Perkins never came home, according to the Star.

Belcher was buried Dec. 12 in North Babylon. The funeral procession passed by his childhood home.
