Letterman tells Oprah about sex scandal

“Late Show” host David Letterman will talk about his sex scandal, his battle with depression and more in a sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey airing next month.

The interview, airing Jan. 6 on OWN’s “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” was conducted late last month at Letterman’s alma mater, Ball State University.

“I hurt a lot of people,” Letterman tells Winfrey about the 2009 sex scandal, in which — during an extortion attempt made on Letterman — it was revealed that he had slept with several women who worked on “Late Show.”

Letterman confessed to the affairs and apologized on his show, but hasn’t talked about it since.

According to a OWN press release, Letterman will also tell Winfrey about his battle with depression, and will discuss his long-standing (mostly one-sided) feud with Jay Leno, which many believe dates back to Leno, and not Letterman, being chosen to replace Johnny Carson on “The Tonight Show.”

Letterman and Leno did appear together, with Winfrey, in a “Late Show” promo that aired during the Super Bowl in 2010.
