A man in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was busted for trying to pass off a counterfeit $500 million bill — but he won’t serve any time.

Judge William Dimitrouleas, calling the offense “laughable,’’ said, “It doesn’t promote respect for the law to send somebody to prison . . . for doing something so silly and outrageous.’’

The biggest bill circulated today is $100, but at one time, the government printed $10,000 notes.
