RG3 fined 10G for apparel violation

Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was fined $10,000 by the NFL for wearing Adidas at his postgame news conference Sunday.

The NFL yesterday confirmed the fine for “unauthorized apparel.”

Griffin was inactive for the game because of a sprained knee, and he wore an Adidas T-shirt and sweat jacket when he addressed reporters afterward. Griffin has a sponsorship deal with Adidas, but the league has a deal with Nike.

It’s the second time this season Griffin has been rebuked for his attire, but it’s his first time he’s been fined. He covered up the Nike swoosh on his official team warm-up shirt before the regular opener against the Saints.

Griffin had a full practice yesterday, but coach Mike Shanahan said no decision has been made if he will start Sunday when the Redskins (8-6) face the Eagles (4-10).

EAGLES:
LeSean McCoy will start at running back against Washington after missing four games because of a concussion. Coach Andy Reid said he would rotate McCoy with rookie Bryce Brown.

VIKINGS: QB Christian Ponder confirmed he and ESPN reporter Samantha Steele got married on Monday at a courthouse in Wisconsin.

COLTS: Interim coach Bruce Arians and others have pegged next Sunday’s regular-season finale against Houston as a possible return date for head coach Chuck Pagano, who has not been on the sideline since late September when he began his battle against leukemia.

CHARGERS: Head coach Norv Turner said he isn’t ruling out taking a job as an offensive coordinator for another NFL team if he is fired after this season.

BILLS: Center Eric Wood said he is sticking by his comments Monday when he said playing so-called home games in Toronto is “a joke.”

“It stunk that we were up there,’’ he said.
