‘Rape case’ cop custody war

A jail term isn’t the only problem for disgraced ex-cop Kenneth Moreno.

The lead officer acquitted in last year’s “rape cops” trial saw his angry baby mama head to court yesterday to fight for custody of their 16-year-old daughter.

Even though he’s been locked up for a year for official misconduct, she failed.

Judge Dean Kusakabe slammed both Moreno, 45, and his ex, Maria Cruz, as unfit parents in Brooklyn Family Court yesterday, as he allowed the shamed officer’s mom to continue raising the teenager.

Moreno was acquitted last year of on-duty-rape charges after he and his partner were accused of attacking a drunk fashion executive in her apartment. He was convicted, however, of official misconduct for returning to her apartment three times.

After listening to bitter words among attorneys representing Moreno, Cruz, the daughter, and Moreno’s mother, Kusakabe granted temporary custody to Moreno’s mother.Moreno’s attorney, Cheryl Solomon, blasted Cruz. “The mother still refers to my client as the ‘rape cop!’ ” Solomon said.

“My client does not want to live with her mother and she does not enjoy her visits,” said Children’s Law Center lawyer Dawn Post, who represents the daughter.
