Jayhawks fly past Buckeyes

Redshirt freshman Ben McLemore scored 22 points and No. 9 Kansas made a statement in its first road game by beating seventh-ranked Ohio State 74-66 last night in Columbus, Ohio.

It was the third victory for the Jayhawks (10-1) in little more than a year over the Buckeyes (9-2), including a 64-62 thriller in last year’s NCAA semifinals.

In Kansas City, Mo., Will Spradling had 16 points and five assists, including one that set up Shane Southwell’s 3-pointer in the closing minutes to help Kansas State beat No. 8 Florida (8-2). Gators leading scorer Mike Rosario was held to five points.

Louisville 78, W. Kentucky 55

In Nashville, Tenn., Russ Smith scored 20 points and No. 5 Louisville (11-1) racked up its sixth straight win.

Missouri 82, Illinois 73

In St. Louis, Laurence Bowers had 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 12 Missouri (10-1) over No. 10 Illinois (12-1) in the annual Braggin’ Rights game.

Cincinnati 68, Wright St. 58

In Cincinnati, JaQuon Parker scored 16 of his 21 points in the second half and No. 11 Cincinnati (12-0) remained unbeaten.

Minnesota 75, Lafayette 50

In Minneapolis, starting guard Joe Coleman scored 12 points and No. 13 Minnesota (12-1) got 42 points from its reserves.

Georgetown 65, American 48

In Washington, Otto Porter had 16 points and 13 rebounds, and No. 15 Georgetown (10-1) pulled away late in the first half to beat its D.C. neighbor.

In Albuquerque, N.M., Nate Wolters scored 28 points and handed out seven assists, leading South Dakota State to an upset of No. 16 New Mexico (12-1).
